Poem for Friday and Valentine's Day

Sonnet 7: The Face of All the World
By Elizabeth Barrett Browning

The face of all the world is changed, I think,
Since first I heard the footsteps of thy soul
Move still, oh, still, beside me, as they stole
Betwixt me and the dreadful outer brink
Of obvious death, where I, who thought to sink,
Was caught up into love, and taught the whole
Of life in a new rhythm. The cup of dole
God gave for baptism, I am fain to drink,
And praise its sweetness, Sweet, with thee anear.
The names of country, heaven, are changed away
For where thou art or shalt be, there or here;
And this... this lute and song... loved yesterday,
(The singing angels know) are only dear,
Because thy name moves right in what they say.

I had a very nice Valentine's Day/Lupercalia, though I ate much too much (which, following the Chinese New Year and Mardi Gras, is a theme this week). While the Illinois Senate was voting on gay marriage -- very soon, Land of Lincoln -- I was having Indian food at Minerva (decorated for V-day) with Paul. Then I did a little shopping and some work, took a walk -- it was surprisingly warm and I saw three bunnies -- and had phone conversations with old friends. Adam has been staying late after school to work out in the gym since he can't run till he has his shoe inserts.

For dinner Paul made sweet and spicy peanut fondue with tofu, fake chicken, bread and potatoes, which met with hearty approval by both me and Adam, who baked his girlfriend cookies for V-Day and saved a few for us. While he was doing homework, we watched Beauty and the Beast, which keeps getting better except I want Catherine and Tess to make up, and Sherlock, which also keeps getting better apart from the ongoing body count. I got some Dove chocolate, the fourth season of The Sarah Jane Adventures, and a card as seen below along with some other mundane pics from my day!

Les Miserables Valentine for me by Paul.

Dinosaur earrings for me from Rachel. She sent me snowmen earrings too.

Neighborhood bunny rabbit who graced me with his presence while I was out walking, along with two of his friends.

Lunch at Minerva.

Fondue for dinner.
