Greetings from Seattle

I am still in Tukwila! We looked at apartments in the morning, particularly the building where Daniel's friend from high school and college has lived for the past year while working for Amazon, then we went out to lunch with the friend at Pho Bac, an unpretentious and delicious banh mi and noodle place with truly delicious curry. After we ate, we all headed down to Lake Union, where there's a park with flowers and fountains, the Center for Wooden Boats, the Museum of History & Industry, the Historic Ships Wharf, and seaplanes landing on the water.

Heading back uphill, we walked Daniel and his friend back to the friend's apartment, where we left the two of them to hang out and walked toward Seattle Center to the Chihuly Garden and Glass museum. We have been to several excellent Chihuly exhibits in a couple of cities, but this one is a must-see -- outdoor gardens full of color literally in the shadow of the Space Needle, a glasshouse filled with an enormous glass flowers, a Persian ceiling, indoor and outdoor chandeliers, and big indoor exhibits of baskets, millefiori, and seaforms.

We had a little more time before meeting Daniel, so we went to get iced coffee, then walked around the International Fountain again and caught up with the Triple Crown excitement. Daniel found us at the Space Needle and we went to the Armory (with a Filipino festival underway) to meet the Wigles' daughter Julia and her daughter, who live in the Seattle area. We got Mod Pizza and ate outside at a picnic table from which we could hear the band playing on the stage nearby. Then we came back to the hotel to collapse and watch Begin Again.
