Poem for Thursday and Mount Vernon Barnyard

Up-Hill
By Christina Rossetti

Does the road wind up-hill all the way?
    Yes, to the very end.
Will the day's journey take the whole long day?
From morn to night, my friend.

But is there for the night a resting-place?
A roof for when the slow dark hours begin.
May not the darkness hide it from my face?
    You cannot miss that inn.

Shall I meet other wayfarers at night?
    Those who have gone before.
Then must I knock, or call when just in sight?
They will not keep you standing at that door.

Shall I find comfort, travel-sore and weak?
Of labour you shall find the sum.
Will there be beds for me and all who seek?
Yea, beds for all who come.

Wednesday was a beautiful, nearly-warm day. I spent the morning working and cleaning up a bunch of stuff on my computer, took a long walk after lunch, sorted some stuff for Vietnam Vets donation in the afternoon, then went to meet Gblvr for dinner -- I had an egg-and-cheese crepe, since I know I had too much sodium earlier in the week -- and a bit of shopping (Forever 21 has necklaces with tiny cameos and miniature mirrors for $1.50).

I had to get home early to watch Star Trek: First Contact so I can get it reviewed -- not one of my favorites, though I know it's widely regarded as the best of the TNG films, so I am not sure exactly what I'm going to say about it. Adam was upstairs fighting with his computer, while Daniel's computer has finally been declared a loss and he is getting a new one (probably a HP Pavilion). We watched a bit of NCAA basketball but turned it off for the news, which is draining, so here are some Mount Vernon photos instead.

Happy St. Patrick's Day, whether you're Irish or just a fan of leprechauns, four-leaf clovers, and green bagels.
