Poem for Tuesday and Colonial Farm Animals

From Endymion
By John Keats

A thing of beauty is a joy for ever:
Its loveliness increases; it will never
Pass into nothingness; but still will keep
A bower quiet for us, and a sleep
Full of sweet dreams, and health, and quiet breathing.
Therefore, on every morrow, are we wreathing
A flowery band to bind us to the earth,
Spite of despondence, of the inhuman dearth
Of noble natures, of the gloomy days,
Of all the unhealthy and o'er-darkened ways
Made for our searching: yes, in spite of all,
Some shape of beauty moves away the pall
From our dark spirits. Such the sun, the moon,
Trees old and young, sprouting a shady boon
For simple sheep; and such are daffodils
With the green world they live in; and clear rills
That for themselves a cooling covert make
'Gainst the hot season; the mid forest brake,
Rich with a sprinkling of fair musk-rose blooms:
And such too is the grandeur of the dooms
We have imagined for the mighty dead;
All lovely tales that we have heard or read:
An endless fountain of immortal drink,
Pouring unto us from the heaven's brink.

Nor do we merely feel these essences
For one short hour; no, even as the trees
That whisper round a temple become soon
Dear as the temple's self, so does the moon,
The passion poesy, glories infinite,
Haunt us till they become a cheering light
Unto our souls, and bound to us so fast,
That, whether there be shine, or gloom o'ercast,
They alway must be with us, or we die.

Monday was a catch-up and chore day. It involved washing four loads of laundry that haven't all been folded yet, but more annoyingly it involved moving dozens of piles of Stuff that got shaken loose when we discovered last night at around 11 p.m. that Daniel did not know where his textbook for Driver's Ed had gone, which he needed to find by 1 p.m. the next afternoon. After an evening and morning of unsuccessfully looking everywhere in the entire house, Paul went and picked up a new one, because the book is only $10 and the course, which he isn't allowed to take without the book, cost a great deal more than that. He had the first three-hour classroom lesson and proclaimed it boring; he doesn't get to start the driving lessons till next week.

I passed Adam walking home from the track on the way to take Daniel to the class, so I picked him up, and he explained the Me Gusta, Forever Alone, and I Lied memes to me because I don't spend enough time on Memebase. Also Not Sure If Trolling Or Just Stupid (I am usually just stupid). In related news, I sliced my finger while cutting a bagel, was told on Facebook that I was then due some positive karmic balance, and soon after received via UPS a Pandora bracelet with a very pretty orange Murano bead as a reward for having filled out an online survey. That was lovely, as was Warehouse 13, a show on which I love all the characters so much.

Spoilers: The Claudia-Steve love-fest is awesome. I had no idea that the character was going to be gay, and Buddhist, nor even that Aaron Ashmore was going to be a regular, and I love that Claudia says "Thank Goddess" and complains to Myka about having to put up with a sausage-fest (she later claims she means too many unhealthy eaters, not too many men, but heh). And they go looking for Typhoid Mary's knife, and the comic storyline actually has a rather touching ending. Meanwhile Myka and Pete are having angst-fest UST and abandonment issues in the middle of a reasonably convoluted whodunit. What a great episode.
