Poem for Saturday, Statistical Probabilities, Secretariat, Canal

Sonnet
By Bill Knott

The way the world is not
Astonished at you
It doesn’t blink a leaf
When we step from the house
Leads me to think
That beauty is natural, unremarkable
And not to be spoken of
Except in the course of things
The course of singing and worksharing
The course of squeezes and neighbors
The course of you tying back your raving hair to go out
And the course of course of me
Astonished at you
The way the world is not

Quickie as I have been laughing so hard I cried at clips of Hugh Jackman, Michael Fassbender, and James McAvoy on The Graham Norton Show -- I am not sure when the episode airs in the U.S. but it is a must-see, unless you freak out when actors are shown fan art and fan fiction no matter how cool they are with it, because you discover not only that James believes he should top in McFassy art, but that Michael is a bit jealous of all the Cumberbitches. No one blinked an eye at the discovery that there's so much RPF, even mpreg.

My day involved posting a review of Deep Space Nine's "Statistical Probabilities", enjoying the gorgeous weather (we saw our first baby bunny of the season eating the neighbor's grass), having dinner with my parents, and watching Secretariat, which I hadn't seen and figured it would be a good Kentucky Derby weekend movie given that I like the cast, especially Malkovich (doubt I will watch the actual race, I don't like how the horses are treated). The Orioles and Nationals both won, yay! And Adam went to a lacrosse match. Some C&O Canal pics from last weekend:
