Poem for Saturday, Future's End, Occidental College

A Boat Beneath a Sunny Sky
By Lewis Carroll

A boat beneath a sunny sky,
Lingering onward dreamily
In an evening of July —

Children three that nestle near,
Eager eye and willing ear,
Pleased a simple tale to hear —

Long has paled that sunny sky:
Echoes fade and memories die:
Autumn frosts have slain July.

Still she haunts me, phantomwise,
Alice moving under skies
Never seen by waking eyes.

Children yet, the tale to hear,
Eager eye and willing ear,
Lovingly shall nestle near.

In a Wonderland they lie,
Dreaming as the days go by,
Dreaming as the summers die:

Ever drifting down the stream —
Lingering in the golden gleam —
Life, what is it but a dream?

I had a very nice Friday during which some Bones got watched but the laundry did not get folded, mostly because I forgot about it. I did not forget to post my review of Voyager's "Future's End", one of my favorite TV episodes of all time, which neither time nor bad subsequent Star Trek episodes can erase.

My friend Annmarie came up from Virginia for dinner with me and Paul, which ended up being BBOPQ (rice and tofu for me, tacos for her) in the mall food court before Eye in the Sky. I was a little nervous that she'd find the military aspects not believable, but she thought it was as good as I did -- definitely worth having seen twice.

We missed this week's Sleepy Hollow but caught up on last week's, which was a delight, little Pandora and lots of goofy American history, even a Hamilton joke. Here are some photos from Occidental College, where one of my nieces is a student (top photo shows Obama's pictures on his dorm, second is the "Vulcan fountain"):
