Poem for Monday, Annmarie Gardens, Flag Ponds

From 'Heron Sea'
By M. Kei

the great blue heron
the blue painted ship
the blue silence

no wind tonight
a puddle of silver
in the bay's darkness,
a full moon
off the port bow

the earth is not forever
islands of the Chesapeake
slip into to memory

--------

I spent a gorgeous Sunday in Calvert County with Cheryl, Paul, and Madeline, starting at the Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center's Artsfest, where we ate lunch and looked at jewelry, glass, crafts, and Maryland-themed decorative items from around the bay area, then at Flag Ponds, where we found sharks' teeth, saw herons, seagulls, crabs, and osprey, and swam in the Chesapeake!

We stopped for Slurpees on the way home, got caught in Redskins traffic (they lost and the Ravens won, which is vastly preferable to the other way around), had cheeseburgers for dinner since it was apparently National Cheeseburger Day, and saw Royal Wives At War (in which Wallis Simpson airs her grievances against Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon). Then Cheryl had to go home, so I am typing this while watching Masters of Sex!
