Poem for Sunday, Great Falls, Great Fondue

What the Thrush Said
By John Keats

O Thou whose face hath felt the Winter’s wind,
Whose eye has seen the snow-clouds hung in mist,
And the black elm tops ’mong the freezing stars,
To thee the spring will be a harvest-time.
O thou, whose only book has been the light
Of supreme darkness which thou feddest on
Night after night when Phœbus was away,
To thee the Spring shall be a triple morn.
O fret not after knowledge—I have none,
And yet my song comes native with the warmth.
O fret not after knowledge—I have none,
And yet the Evening listens. He who saddens
At the thought of idleness cannot be idle,
And he’s awake who thinks himself asleep.

Adam and Katherine got up early to go see Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, dropping off Paul to pick up the van from the dealer next door to the mall, so he and I had a quiet chore-related morning (and they apparently ran into my father in the mall). Then we all had bagels, went to Great Falls to see the ice in the canal and enjoy the sunshine, and drove to National Airport to pick up Daniel.

We ate at Ben's Chili Bowl in the airport, I dragged them into a couple of stores, and we came home for chocolate fondue made from our leftover Halloween candy. Afterward, we watched Detective Pikachu because Adam and Katherine had not seen it. Adam played me the Pokemon theme song, which he learned for my birthday on his guitar. Now we're watching SNL with Eddie Murphy and Lizzo!
