Poem for Friday and Cabin John Spring

A Lady red -- amid the Hill
By Emily Dickinson

A Lady red -- amid the Hill
Her annual secret keeps!
A Lady white, within the Field
In placid Lily sleeps!

The tidy Breezes, with their Brooms --
Sweep vale -- and hill -- and tree!
Prithee, My pretty Housewives!
Who may expected be?

The Neighbors do not yet suspect!
The Woods exchange a smile!
Orchard, and Buttercup, and Bird --
In such a little while!

And yet, how still the Landscape stands!
How nonchalant the Hedge!
As if the "Resurrection"
Were nothing very strange!

--------

Thursday looked like an early summer day, lots of green everywhere, but it felt like spring, with temperatures in the 60s and a nice breeze. I had an appointment for a routine fasting blood draw but the earliest they could get me in was 11:40 a.m., so I took it easy in the morning, then ate everything in the house when Paul drove me back. Most of my afternoon involved uploading photos, organizing books, and trying to fold laundry, but the latter was thwarted because a cat was asleep on top of it in the laundry basket.

We decided to take a walk at Locust Grove today because the weather is supposed to be miserable tomorrow (photos below) and I chatted with my fannish friends in the evening before watching the last two episodes of the first season of Shadow and Bone, which feels extremely derivative of every young adult series I've ever read, even C.S. Lewis in the season finale, but I really like the two main protagonists and the tricksters and Ben Barnes is clearly having a great time chewing scenery, and apparently that is enough for me!
