Greetings from Brookside Gardens

Sunday was a gorgeous sunny day and we were in the mood to see flowers, so we went to Brookside Gardens after lunch. The conservatory has its early spring show including several kinds of citrus fruits and orchids, which are gorgeous, but the real excitement is outside, where the snowdrops and winter aconite are blooming, the crocus and daffodil stalks are starting, and the apricot blossoms are beginning to emerge. Lots of geese, ducks, and robins were pairing off in the ponds and grass while songbirds were noisy in the trees.

The rest of my day was taken up with the Olympics, though we started to watch Around the World in 80 Days before discovering that it's on PBS's web site and putting off the second half so we could watch skating streaming as it happened. I was hoping that someone would beat the Russians, I love the styles of so many skaters who can't even break the top three, but their scores are so high even when they fall that it's pointless. I was really happy for Chock and Bates -- it would be so fantastic if they and Hubbell and Donohue both win medals.
