Greetings from Ellicott City

Friday was my 32nd wedding anniversary and Paul only had to work half a day because of the July 4th holiday, so after lunch we went to Ellicott City. We started at Clark's Elioak Farm, which has a typical barnyard with goats, sheep, horses, and cows that can be petted, an emu that will eat your hair if you get too close, and a bunch of other animals, but it's also famous because the fairy tale structures that used to be at the Enchanted Forest amusement park are on the grounds. We did need to stay in the park museum for about 20 minutes because of a massive thunderstorm, but afterward we had the entire park pretty much to ourselves.

We parked by the Howard County Courthouse and walked through old Ellicott City, which is still recovering from the pre-pandemic floods that nearly destroyed the downtown -- the old railroad clock is gone but the Forget-Me-Not Factory is still open, as are the game store and lots of cafes and shops. We were thinking of going to see Much Ado About Nothing on the grounds of the Patapsco Female Institute, but the weather was questionable -- the grass was still wet, there were more storms in the forecast, and in between it was nearly 90 degrees -- so instead we headed toward home and ordered Sheba on the way so we could have Ethiopian food for dinner.

I got Paul some beach stuff for our anniversary and he got me the LEGO goat boat from Thor: Love and Thunder, which I cannot wait to build, and a mug with lots of Thor and Loki comic book covers on it. We had mini sundaes for dessert with the last of the whipped cream we got for the strawberry shortcake and watched The Lost City, which we'd seen in the theater but it was a good night for a rom-com, then we watched this week's episode of The Boys which, yet again, was insanely violent but they brought in the Qanon conspiracy and once again I had to forgive them because of how passionately they hate Americans!
