After breakfast in our hotel and a walk around the Saugus Iron Works National Historic Site -- Colonial America's first waterwheels and forge, from the mid-1600s -- we met three friends who had come up from New York, Virginia, and DC and drove into downtown Salem. A fourth friend from Maine arrived, and we went to lots of witch and nautical-themed stores before lunch at Fountain Place, a visit to the Real Pirates museum, and a walk past the Salem Witch Trials Memorial and cemetery (sadly closed for Veterans Day).
When what was left of Hurricane Nicole arrived and started dripping on us, we did a bit more shopping, then went to dinner at the Hardcover Restaurant before returning to the hotel to eat the cannoli that the group that drove through Boston had bought (pistachio! nutella! chocolate covered!). So all in all a fantastic day with lots of Tarot decks, black cats, real and preposterous pirates, nautical and historical sites, and general fun (this is most of my regular Thursday night chat group)!
