Poem for Thursday and Hazy Lake Sammamish

The Eagle
By Alfred, Lord Tennyson

He clasps the crag with crooked hands;
Close to the sun in lonely lands,
Ring'd with the azure world, he stands.

The wrinkled sea beneath him crawls;
He watches from his mountain walls,
And like a thunderbolt he falls.

Just a warning: Today Google put several of my Blogger posts behind a sensitive content warning for absolutely ridiculous reasons -- in one case the post contained the phrase "gays and lesbians" (talking about demographic groups, not explicit gay and lesbian sex). Either someone has it in for me and is reporting my posts over nothing, or Google as adopted the state of Florida's rules about what should be inaccessible to anyone under 21, which is a form of censorship so extreme I will need to find a different blogging platform.

I spent Thursday morning sorting various small items that got put in boxes inside of other boxes -- if anyone knows where my turquoise bear ended up, please let me know -- then we had lunch and went to get Washington drivers' licenses, which was a remarkably fast process since we'd done the pre-application online and had appointments for the in-person part. Now we have temporary licenses -- the real ones get mailed in a few days -- plus we stopped at Safeway for groceries and got Starbucks' new macadamia syrup drinks.

My Thursday night chat group is mostly at Misti-con, so we didn't end up meeting. So after dinner, we walked to the beach at Idylwood, where we saw lots of ducks but noticed the haze from the Alberta wildfires. Then we walked out on the dock in the neighborhood and saw geese with goslings in the lake as well as mature and juvenile eagles fighting over perches in a tree! Now we're watching Ant-Man: Quantumania on Disney+ and sorting the stuff we bought earlier, so here are some photos from the park earlier:
