Poem for Tuesday and Juanita Bay Birds

Two-Headed Calf
By Laura Gilpin

Tomorrow when the farm boys find this
freak of nature, they will wrap his body
in newspaper and carry him to the museum.

But tonight he is alive and in the north
field with his mother. It is a perfect
summer evening: the moon rising over
the orchard, the wind in the grass. And
as he stares into the sky, there are
twice as many stars as usual.

--------

Tuesday was fairly quiet around here, though gorgeous -- nearly 70 degrees! I did a bunch of work and a bunch of chores, and then took a long walk to and around the park to enjoy the afternoon. Then my Voyager group watched "Good Shepherd" which we did not remember but since it was a "Lower Decks" ripoff, no loss there!

We've been watching Gen V since dinner, The Boys spinoff from last year that we forgot existed until one of the young actors died tragically a few days ago. Like its original, it is insanely violent, pretty kinky, and vicious to both genre TV and capitalist America. A variety of birds from Juanita Bay Park over the weekend:
