Greetings from DC Parks

The forecast for Sunday was for an atrociously low wind chill, so we tried to think of places where we wouldn't be walking around for too long and decided to go down to the DC marina by the Pentagon to see boats and waterfowl. We'd done no research despite living in the area for so many years, so we didn't realize we could walk over a bridge to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Memorial Grove on the Potomac with its great views of DC, nor through a tunnel to the Navy–Merchant Marine Memorial in Lady Bird Johnson Park on Columbia Island. We saw hundreds of Canada geese and it wasn't even that cold.

Our evening TV before SNL was all football, before and after dinner, and for once both teams I was rooting for won at the last minute following very close games. (Sorry, Green Bay, I love you but I'm done with your quarterback.) We had asked the kids about Skyping at some point and did not track Daniel down till late -- Cahaya just adopted a second Siberian Husky, who listens about as well as Theodore when told to get out of the water, meaning not at all -- and Adam, Katherine, and Pepper are currently babysitting a friend's corgi, so everyone was busy with dogs, plus Daniel is packing to move next month!
