We spent our 33rd anniversary mostly in Port Orchard, where we first visited younger son's good friend's sister and her family including her weeks-old newborn with food from the Olive Garden, then went to the marina to board the Lady Washington to sail for a couple of hours -- they even let us help haul lines. The weather was spectacular and we got to see the naval base and towns along the bay. We also got to talk to the crew, one of whom is writing a dissertation about the wreck of Blackbeard's ship and another of whom used to crew tall ships in East Coast ports we've visited.
We walked through the street fair in town being set up for the Independence Day fireworks they were holding tonight, then we drove to Gig Harbor, where we had intended to have Thai food but we were still full from lunch. So instead we walked around to see the mountain rising over the water, then drove home (still with great mountain views across the Tacoma Narrows Bridge) and ate sandwiches while watching Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl because of course we got in the mood for it -- Lady Washington played the Interceptor in the movie!
