Poem for April 1

Oh Have You Heard
By Shel Silverstein

Oh have you heard it’s time for vaccinations?
I think someone put salt into your tea.
They’re giving us eleven-month vacations.
And Florida has sunk into the sea.

Oh have you heard the President has measles?
The principal has just burned down the school.
Your hair is full of ants and purple weasels—
            APRIL FOOL!

--------

Yes, , that's for you. Happy Birthday, and ! I see that in honor of the day, my Friends and Friend Of list have turned to Stalking and Stalked By. Heh. In related news, Star Trek fans, you may be interested that Enterprise has finally been cancelled in favor of that Starfleet Academy series they talked about three years ago! And there are 1er Avril celebrations like this, and this, and this, and I shall post more at TrekToday as they show up. Also -- for LOTR fans -- this. Leaky Cauldron's got a bunch of jokes up for HP fans too.

And a serious non-April Fool story stolen from because it's too important not to mention, from the Center for American Progress:
  • "I think credibility is important," said then-Governor Bush on 10/11/00. "It is going to be important for the president to be credible with Congress, important for the president to be credible with foreign nations."
  • Bush Says Gay Marriage Is A State Issue...
"The state can do what they want to do. Don't try to trap me in this state's issue like you're trying to get me into." [Gov. George W. Bush on Larry King Live, 2/15/00]
  • ...Bush Supports Constitutional Amendment Banning Gay Marriage
"Today I call upon the Congress to promptly pass, and to send to the states for ratification, an amendment to our Constitution defining and protecting marriage as a union of man and woman as husband and wife." [President Bush, 2/24/04]
Liar, liar, administration under fire. Or, in a word: in-credible.

Also not a joke, written for 's all-dialogue challenge, "Untangling".
