Poem for Tuesday

Readings in French
By Larry Levis

1.

Looking into the eyes of Gerard de Nerval
You notice the giant sea crabs rising.
Which is what happens
When you look into the eyes of Gerard de Nerval,
Always the same thing: the giant sea crabs,
The claws in their vague red holsters
Moving around, a little doubtfully.

2.

But looking into the eyes of Pierre Reverdy
Is like throwing the editorial page
Out into the rain
And then riding alone on the subway.

Also, it is like avoiding your father.
You are hiding and he looks for you
Under each vine; he is coming nearer
And nearer. What can you do
But ignore him?

3.

In either case, soon you are riding alone on a subway.
Which is not important.
What is important is to avoid
Looking too closely into the eyes of your father,
That formal eclipse.

I was very remiss in my duties yesterday in that I did not point out this orgasm in 's journal. Now we know how Faramir looks when he...yeah. *thud*

I don't know how long this quiz has been around nor how I missed it before, but it popped up all over part of my Friends list yesterday and how could I not...

I am Moony!
You are Moony! Also known as Remus Lupin, once a
month you become a werewolf. Your biggest fear
is the full moon, you're the brains of the
operation. Cool confidence is your thing.
Are you Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot, or Prongs?
brought to you by Quizilla

My children have decided, completely on their own, to redub the gerbils Aragorn and Boromir. Because obviously Aragorn needs Boromir. I did not make ONE comment about this, I swear.

Teacher conferences this afternoon so must work this morning. Hope everyone is having a very fine Tuesday.
