Greetings from Winterfest

Sunday was a gorgeous day -- chilly, but the sky was clear and the mountain was out -- so we ate lunch early and went downtown, parking near Daniel's old building, to walk to Seattle Center to see the holiday festivities. The Seattle Armory was set up for Winterfest, which includes a model train display of old Seattle complete with a hot air balloon, several decorated trees, and a stage with live music and dancing from around the world.

After we visited that, we walked to the Seattle Christmas Market, for which we had already purchased tickets; there, the decorations were mostly Bavarian in theme, though there were crafts for sale made everywhere from Peru to Japan, plus live music, sports mascots, a walk-through Christmas tree, and a carousel, which of course I insisted that we ride after sufficient time to digest the pretzel and mustard that of course we ate.

We walked around the International Fountain before we left downtown, then did a bit of shopping at Barnes and Noble, Redmond Town Center, and Safeway on the way home. We watched the Ravens' messy victory over the Jaguars, ate cheesesteaks and tater tots for dinner, then watched what we only realized after the fact was the season finale of The Gilded Age (go Bertha, though poor Gladys) and the first episode of this season's Reacher.
