Poem for Monday and Sammamish Flood

One White Tree
By J.R.R. Tolkien

Tall ships and tall kings
Three times three.
What brought they from the foundered land
Over the flowing sea?
Seven stars and seven stones
And one white tree.

--------

Monday was rainy and chilly, so just as well I had a bunch of work to get done. We went out before lunch to get bagels for the week, just as the Pokemon winter event was starting so I got to got to catch some Cetoddles, and we walked to the beach in the afternoon in increasing rain, though that didn't stop the eagles from hanging out in the tallest tree. I watched the first third of The Fellowship of the Ring while folding laundry before dinner.

We ate leftover Indian food for my birthday while watching the Seahawks' narrow victory over the Eagles -- it looked hopeless till the very end of the game, which was delightful -- and now we're watching the rest of The Fellowship of the Ring, the extended version, my favorite of the trilogy (really my favorite of the franchise). Here are photos showing the rising of the flood waters last week, which I wanted to remember since our dock completely disappeared:
