Despite having rain fall for most of the day, I had an awesome Saturday in Snohomish! We met my friend Chris -- whom I last saw in person 20 years ago when she lived in Seattle and we were visiting -- at her apartment, and she gave us a walking tour of the center of town and the river trail after we all had lunch at Thai and Taps (we only had the excellent curry and other food, not the drinks).
Then we let her get back to her family and drove to Swans Trail Farms, which was having a Baby Animals & Berries Festival. We took a hayride to the strawberry patch to pick some, got fresh strawberry lemonade and shortcake, and went to visit the barns, where I got to pet and hold baby ducks, chicks, bunnies, kittens, calves, goats, lambs, and a foal, so it was pretty much a perfect afternoon!
It's strange to have a June day with temperatures barely reaching 50 degrees. We stopped at Walgreens and Safeway on the way home, ate sandwiches for dinner since we'd had a big lunch, and watched the Mariners beat the Angels. Plus we took a walk at twilight out on the dock and saw the ducklings burrowing under their mother, which we'd seen before, and slugs on the dock slats, which we hadn't.
