Greetings from the Arnold Arboretum

Quick post after late Thursday night chat! My day was quiet, rainy, we both worked on our computers while watching the Orioles doubleheader (awesome first game with two grand slams, second game started with Orioles losing 5-0 and did not get better). We took a walk, talked to neighbors, saw four bunnies, and caught up on Ghosts before I got on chat. Here are some of the birds we saw at the Arnold Arboretum in Boston last weekend:

I had a fairly typical Wednesday -- talked to my high school friends about our kids and various people's travel plans, watched the last current episode of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power with Cel and Laurie, read some of Iron Council over lunch, did some cleanup. Now I'm running late because I was fighting with a web site. 

It was chilly but we took a walk and saw ducks and bunnies, then we had pizza and watched the new episodes of Margo's Got Money Troubles (sweet) and The Boys (the Supernatural reunion episode with all the cameos, Very Wrong and very fun). Now we're trying Widow's Bay. Lots of flower colors from Tower Hill Botanic Garden:

The major event of my Tuesday was going into Holden to get bagels at The Bagel Inn (they had sesame, huzzah, last time they'd run out). It was a little cooler and more overcast than Monday but still lovely to be outdoors -- even lovely to be in the bedroom with the windows open folding laundry under the windows on the storage ottomans. 

My DS9 group watched the not-deep-but-enjoyable "Civil Defense" and plotted running away to Canada, then Paul, Cheryl, and I watched this week's Daredevil -- I wish we got more Matt Murdock in the courtroom on the show. Greetings from Gore Place

I had a quiet Monday mostly doing chores and going hunting for one of those things that disappeared in the move but I needed to track down. It was a gorgeous day in the 60s, glorious outside, and we had bunnies and birds and a duck hanging around. 

We watched this week's Maul episodes (I was glad there was more Maul this week!) and now we're watching Margo's Got Money Troubles, which is really well done, at least the first couple of episodes. Here are the real stars of the sheepshearing festival at Gore Place: 

Greetings from Fitchburg

Sunday was a gorgeous sunny day and we spent most of it out. First we went to Tower Hill Botanic Garden, which is deep into tulip season and still has lots of daffodils and tall snowdrops, plus Virginia bluebells, grape hyacinth, and the regional native daffodils that the gardens allow to grow wild. Then we drove to Adam's house, where Hildy and Tom were visiting Haley with Cindy's dog, and hung out for a while with them and Pepper, chatting. 

We took Adam and Haley to the Fitchburg Art Museum, which had an Art in Bloom exhibit like the one in Worcester last month in which floral artists echo museum collection pieces in flowers. When we took them home, we all chatted with my parents and Daniel, then we came home for leftovers and the rest of Rivals (UGH THOSE MEN) before tonight's Watson (so much going on and I can't believe this show is about to be over). Greetings from Waltham and Boston

Spent a lovely Saturday out since morning so we could meet Meredith in Waltham at the Sheepshearing Festival at Gore Place, which is more like the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival than what it sounds like -- there was sheepshearing and demonstrations of sheepdogs herding sheep, plus lambs and alpacas, but there were also over a hundred craft and art tents, musicians, Federalist-era reenactors, and tours of the 1806 Gore Mansion. We enjoyed all that, then walked to John Brewer's Tavern, named for an original from 1770, for lunch. 

Then we drove into Boston to the Arnold Arboretum, Harvard's public gardens, which has a variety of cherry blossom trees, nearly all of which are past peak bloom and a bunch of people posted that this was really the last weekend to see them flowering. There are also lots of forsythia, some flowering quince, and many non-flowering trees, all of which had birds around including blue jays, yellow warblers, and red-winged blackbirds. Now we're watching Rivals, in which Alex Hassell and David Tennant are competing to be the biggest jerk!

The most excitement I had on Friday involved freecycling, both giving away some cosmetic stuff and getting a rotating sun catcher with butterflies. Otherwise it involved chores, sorting out some paperwork, and a walk in the cool but lovely sunny weather. Whoever is in charge of the neighborhood landscaping has turned the fountains back on in the ponds where the snapping turtles live, and there was a rainbow in one of them!

 

Our evening TV started with the Orioles-Red Sox game, which the Orioles were already winning when I was finishing the dinner dishes and they hit so many home runs that the ballpark announced they were out of fireworks. Then we watched this week's tense For All Mankind, way more politics than space, and now the Passover episode of Your Friends and Neighbors, a completely normal terrible Jews-in-the-suburbs story I didn't know I needed!

Quick post because I just got off Zoom with my friends! Paul had to go to a work event in Leominster at lunchtime today, so I did my chores in the morning and went with him so I could go to Walmart next door. (I got three pairs of leggings, a blue dress, and a blouse on sale for $9, plus some foodstuffs.) It was a gorgeous day to walk, too. 

My afternoon wasn't exciting, and we spent the early part of the evening watching part of the disastrous Red Sox game against the Yankees, then the start of the NFL draft before I got on Thursday night chat.
