Greetings from Washington Park Arboretum

Quick post after Thursday night chat while watching Stuart Fails To Save the Universe -- an episode that's particularly a propos tonight because I was just talking about when I worked at AnotherUniverse and the guys could argue for an hour about whether Captain Cold could beat Mr. Freeze. 

Earlier while looking down the basement for a box with cards, I found the black and white original copies of our Star Trek Tarot deck, which I had really wanted to scan but thought were lost forever, so I wound up making it a scanning afternoon with that and all the summer mail and stuff. 

I talked to my parents, took a walk, we ordered vegan Chinese for dinner and watched "Once La'an a Time" -- this week's over the top but fun Strange New Worlds -- before chat, during which we had the Red Sox win on in the background. Late summer-early fall at Washington Park Arboretum:

Greetings from Chihuly Garden and Glass

Don't look for excitement here because a lot of my day again involved laundry and chores, though I also had fun with my usual Wednesday online chat groups -- my high school friends, one of whom had an insane weekend with unplanned travel that made mine seem completely stress-free, then Kristen and Laurie, with whom I watched the first half of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. 

It was already after sunset when we took a walk, so we only saw one bunny, and we had a quick dinner, then I watched last week's Strange New Worlds with Cheryl (as usual Kirk 1, Evil Admirals 0, and it's nice having a second Kirk and Uhura being awesome). Greetings from Elm Park

It was raining when we got up on Sunday morning, so we had a slow morning reading, then we ate lunch and went to Elm Park to walk, see waterfowl and turtles, and do some Mewtwo and Mega raids for Pokemon Go Fest with the big local crowds that always gather there for Pokemon events. It drizzled a couple of times but was mostly a nice day, not too hot or cold, and after a couple of hours, we went to the nearby Tidepool Bookstore because it's nice to have an independent brick-and-mortar shop nearby! 

 

We came home late in the afternoon and took a walk around the neighborhood, then I took a shower and did a little organizing. We had French toast for dinner with veggie bacon, talked to my parents and kids on Google Meet, and saw the start of the Wisconsin-Notre Dame game. Then we watched this week's very well done Lanterns and now we're watching the start of Marble Hall Murders, the sequel to Magpie and Moonflower Murders, with a fun cast and split storyline with actors in dual roles.

Greetings from Tougas Farm

We went in late morning to meet Adam and Haley at Tougas Family Farm to pick apples. We went to see the goats and guineafowl, then we rode one of the tractors out to the orchard, where we picked honeycrisps and had just arrived at the ginger golds when it started to rain very heavily. We ran for the information tent along with about 50 other people until the rain let up, picked some more apples, and walked back to the center of the farm, which is having a Jimmy Buffet tribute weekend with music and nautical decorations for the end of summer.

 

We stopped at Shaw's on the way home -- it was very cold in the store because we were wet from the rain -- and put on some college football around various chores, though the main game I cared about was later (the Terps won 62-0, though that game wasn't televised here on anything we can watch). Paul made apple cider chick'n for dinner, then we watched the Red Sox-Orioles before 9 to 5, which Disney+ put into the lineup after airing it on ABC last week; I hadn't seen it since it was in the theater in the 80s and remembered none of the details!

Greetings from the Franklin Park Zoo

We had a busy awesome Sunday with Cheryl, starting with a drive to the New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill, where we met Adam and Haley to walk around the fairy houses and see the sheep and goats brought in to trim the daffodil fields. Then we went to Panera in Leominster for lunch before going to see Coyote vs. Acme, which is a joy -- lots of Looney Tunes in jokes, lots of actors having fun, lots of swipes at Applemazon. 

We had dinner at The Friendly Toast in Chestnut Hill, then drove into Boston past the arboretum to the Franklin Park Zoo for the Boston Lights lantern exhibit, where we met Marilyn by the entrance. Inside, we saw leopards, penguins, jellyfish, horses, lemurs, and many other light animals, plus cranes, kangaroos, and camels who could be spotted sleeping in their enclosures behind the light displays. And my dad is out of the hospital!

Greetings from Echobrook Nursery

It was raining when we woke up and pouring by mid-morning, so we had a fairly quiet local Sunday, though it was fun. We visited Echobrook Nursery, a local garden and landscape store in and around a pretty house, and looked at lots of flowers and planters before we picked out a pair of stone rabbit garden fixtures so we can always see bunnies outside the house. We also stopped at Whole Foods and Shaw's for food for the week, and it had stopped raining by the time we were finished.

 

So we took a walk and saw eight neighborhood bunnies when we got home as well as our new stone ones, plus we saw the end of the Red Sox game, in which they managed to hold on to a lead to win (the Orioles did not have as good a day). After dinner Cheryl and I watched The Vampire Lestat's "One Night Only: Live" concert, which was awesome though too short, and afterward we watched the new episode of Lanterns, which I'm liking though it's very blokey so far.

Greetings from the Sunflower Festival

Most of my Tuesday was pretty quiet for me except online. I did a bunch of chores and reading and I also talked to Chris, plus we took a walk and saw several bunnies. My DS9 group watched "Family Business" which is a must-see because of Kasidy Yates and Moogie, but the Ferengi story is really hard to watch even knowing that it ends well a few seasons along. 

Then we watched the Red Sox win (Adley hit a home run) and now we're finishing Kevin Can F Himself, which I guess doesn't end with a murder so that at least is good, though maybe Kevin and Neil will destroy each other and I might be okay with that.
