Greetings from the Garden

I had a pretty quiet Friday working on cleaning up the black and white Tarot cards I found yesterday, plus enjoying the beautiful weather, though we saw a dead bunny on our walk in a spot where we've often seen him munching the grass, so I'm sad about that. The trees are starting to change and I'm not ready for that; I feel like we barely had summer. 

I watched Strange New Worlds again with Cheryl, then we watched Supergirl, which was okay. I didn't dislike it as much as some of the internet did, but it made me miss the early seasons of the TV show, which had a sense of humor along with the pathos. We saw some animals at Washington Park Arboretum but the dogs were sad not to get to chase them:

Quick post after Thursday night chat while watching Stuart Fails To Save the Universe -- an episode that's particularly a propos tonight because I was just talking about when I worked at AnotherUniverse and the guys could argue for an hour about whether Captain Cold could beat Mr. Freeze. 

Earlier while looking down the basement for a box with cards, I found the black and white original copies of our Star Trek Tarot deck, which I had really wanted to scan but thought were lost forever, so I wound up making it a scanning afternoon with that and all the summer mail and stuff. 

I talked to my parents, took a walk, we ordered vegan Chinese for dinner and watched "Once La'an a Time" -- this week's over the top but fun Strange New Worlds -- before chat, during which we had the Red Sox win on in the background. Late summer-early fall at Washington Park Arboretum:

Don't look for excitement here because a lot of my day again involved laundry and chores, though I also had fun with my usual Wednesday online chat groups -- my high school friends, one of whom had an insane weekend with unplanned travel that made mine seem completely stress-free, then Kristen and Laurie, with whom I watched the first half of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. 

It was already after sunset when we took a walk, so we only saw one bunny, and we had a quick dinner, then I watched last week's Strange New Worlds with Cheryl (as usual Kirk 1, Evil Admirals 0, and it's nice having a second Kirk and Uhura being awesome). Now we're watching Sunday's Lanterns, which is extremely violent. Chihuly Nights at Garden and Glass in Seattle:

Greetings from Elm Park

It was raining when we got up on Sunday morning, so we had a slow morning reading, then we ate lunch and went to Elm Park to walk, see waterfowl and turtles, and do some Mewtwo and Mega raids for Pokemon Go Fest with the big local crowds that always gather there for Pokemon events. It drizzled a couple of times but was mostly a nice day, not too hot or cold, and after a couple of hours, we went to the nearby Tidepool Bookstore because it's nice to have an independent brick-and-mortar shop nearby! 

 

We came home late in the afternoon and took a walk around the neighborhood, then I took a shower and did a little organizing. We had French toast for dinner with veggie bacon, talked to my parents and kids on Google Meet, and saw the start of the Wisconsin-Notre Dame game. Then we watched this week's very well done Lanterns and now we're watching the start of Marble Hall Murders, the sequel to Magpie and Moonflower Murders, with a fun cast and split storyline with actors in dual roles.

Greetings from Connecticut

Another quick post after a day at the Connecticut Renaissance Faire with Cheryl and Kristen, who met us there late morning. We wandered through the market, heard some music, saw some jousting, ate lunch, watched an insane performance of Rats: The Musical, and came home in the late afternoon because Cheryl wasn't feeling great. We showed her the first two episodes of Lanterns because she hadn't seen them, and had soup and cheese for dinner, then we watched this week's epic disaster Silo and the return of the excellent Dark Matter. More tomorrow.

Greetings from Echobrook Nursery

It was raining when we woke up and pouring by mid-morning, so we had a fairly quiet local Sunday, though it was fun. We visited Echobrook Nursery, a local garden and landscape store in and around a pretty house, and looked at lots of flowers and planters before we picked out a pair of stone rabbit garden fixtures so we can always see bunnies outside the house. We also stopped at Whole Foods and Shaw's for food for the week, and it had stopped raining by the time we were finished.

 

So we took a walk and saw eight neighborhood bunnies when we got home as well as our new stone ones, plus we saw the end of the Red Sox game, in which they managed to hold on to a lead to win (the Orioles did not have as good a day). After dinner Cheryl and I watched The Vampire Lestat's "One Night Only: Live" concert, which was awesome though too short, and afterward we watched the new episode of Lanterns, which I'm liking though it's very blokey so far.

Greetings from Fitchburg and Worcester

Sunday was another gorgeous day. Adam's brother-in-law Sagar, who is training for a marathon, wanted to run a 5K with his friends for his birthday, so we went over there to offer cheering and dog-walking, though Pepper only made it 1K before she had had enough so we went back to hang out with Hildy and Tom plus others who did not want to run a 5K. There were snacks and eventually pizza and cake, so it was a lovely morning. 

It was also Pokemon Community Day, so Paul and I went to the Fitchburg State campus and then Elm Park, where I caught a bunch of shiny Nickits and saw many geese and ducks. We got home in time for the end of the rain-delayed Red Sox game, then we ate dinner and watched the new Lanterns, which I liked but I'm hardly enough of a Green Lantern fan for my opinion to count. Now it's more of the Worcester-hating Kevin Can F Himself.
