Greetings from Hobbiton

Very quick post, just got off Thursday chat after watching the season finale of Strange New Worlds, which I loved. My day involved things like dyeing my hair and doing a bunch of chores, plus taking a walk before the nor'easter that's expected to make the weekend chaos rolls in. My Wednesday was fairly social. Paul worked from home because they were testing the fire alarms at his office, so we had lunch together. I chatted with Kay and Hildy on Google Meet after lunch, did some photo organizing, read some Menewood, then watched the end of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End with Kristen and Laurie. 

The Orioles were playing a double-header so I kept an eye on that (they swept the Blue Jays), and after veggie apple cider beef stew for dinner, we watched the Red Sox beat the Guardians. Now we're watching Slow Horses with Andor's Syril being very evil. Sea stars, cucumbers, crabs, and other creatures in the tidepools on Alki:

I had a quiet Tuesday morning folding laundry and organizing some stuff, then we had lunch and I talked to Chris. I had a project to finish in the afternoon, we went for a walk, only one member of my DS9 group could come tonight so we chatted for a while. 

We watched the Red Sox game, and now we're watching Mayday, which is quite funny and retro, like a combination of James Bond and Misery. I ran late chatting with Daniel in Malaysia, so here are some quick pics of the joust at the Connecticut Renfaire:

It rained all day Sunday and stayed below 60 degrees. We thought maybe we were going to see Adam's wife and family perform a concert at a Fitchburg park, but the outdoor performance was canceled due to weather, so instead we picked up food from the Daily Bagel and brought it to Adam and Haley's house, where we ate and played Wingspan with them, supervised by Pepper.

 

We talked to my parents, stopped at Shaw's on the way home for food for the week, fed the cats, ate veggie burgers and poutine for dinner, I did some reading, and we watched this week's slightly anticlimactic Lanterns around the Red Sox playoff-clinching celebration (they lost, but so did Houston, and there was much beer-spraying and shirtless hugging) and the Orioles game.

Quick post after Thursday night chat while watching Stuart Fails To Save the Universe -- an episode that's particularly a propos tonight because I was just talking about when I worked at AnotherUniverse and the guys could argue for an hour about whether Captain Cold could beat Mr. Freeze. 

Earlier while looking down the basement for a box with cards, I found the black and white original copies of our Star Trek Tarot deck, which I had really wanted to scan but thought were lost forever, so I wound up making it a scanning afternoon with that and all the summer mail and stuff. 

I talked to my parents, took a walk, we ordered vegan Chinese for dinner and watched "Once La'an a Time" -- this week's over the top but fun Strange New Worlds -- before chat, during which we had the Red Sox win on in the background. Late summer-early fall at Washington Park Arboretum:

My Tuesday morning was a bunch of chores I didn't do over the holiday weekend, followed by fresh bagels for lunch that Paul picked up, then some computer stuff before I talked to Chris for an hour and then Paul and I went for a walk (only four bunnies today but the frog was back). 

For Star Trek's 60th anniversary, my DS9 group watched "The Adversary" (the excellent end of the third season) which had the added benefit of making me miss most of the horrible Red Sox game. Carol told me to watch Younger, which is actually pretty fun. Adley Rutschman on the Red Sox for Kate:

Greetings from Fenway and Kimball's

Quick post after our second Red Sox game in as many weeks -- it was both KPop Demon Hunters Day, with Huntr/x and Saja Boys jerseys for fans with special tickets and some decorations like at Heated Rivalry Night, and David Ortiz football jersey giveaway day, meaning that we went home with two new shirts apiece. We also got to see a really fun game in which Duran and Rutschman both homered, the latter hitting Pesky's Pole at over 112 mph, plus Bello pitching a good game and several other players getting hits, knocking the Angels out of postseason contention. 

We had sandwiches and fries at the stadium plus an excellent hot pretzel, and we stayed for the whole game plus the post-game hugs and high fives. Then we walked back to the car and drove to Kimball Farm in Lancaster, where we met Adam, Haley, both her sisters and their husbands, and her parents plus her father's parents to get ice cream for her father's birthday. We all had large scoops and sundaes, then we came home, fed the cats, and we're watching more of Marble Hall Murders while I sort photos of Red Sox players and Kpop fans.

Greetings from Tougas Farm

We went in late morning to meet Adam and Haley at Tougas Family Farm to pick apples. We went to see the goats and guineafowl, then we rode one of the tractors out to the orchard, where we picked honeycrisps and had just arrived at the ginger golds when it started to rain very heavily. We ran for the information tent along with about 50 other people until the rain let up, picked some more apples, and walked back to the center of the farm, which is having a Jimmy Buffet tribute weekend with music and nautical decorations for the end of summer.

 

We stopped at Shaw's on the way home -- it was very cold in the store because we were wet from the rain -- and put on some college football around various chores, though the main game I cared about was later (the Terps won 62-0, though that game wasn't televised here on anything we can watch). Paul made apple cider chick'n for dinner, then we watched the Red Sox-Orioles before 9 to 5, which Disney+ put into the lineup after airing it on ABC last week; I hadn't seen it since it was in the theater in the 80s and remembered none of the details!
