Greetings from Washington Park Arboretum

Quick post after Thursday night chat while watching Stuart Fails To Save the Universe -- an episode that's particularly a propos tonight because I was just talking about when I worked at AnotherUniverse and the guys could argue for an hour about whether Captain Cold could beat Mr. Freeze. 

Earlier while looking down the basement for a box with cards, I found the black and white original copies of our Star Trek Tarot deck, which I had really wanted to scan but thought were lost forever, so I wound up making it a scanning afternoon with that and all the summer mail and stuff. 

I talked to my parents, took a walk, we ordered vegan Chinese for dinner and watched "Once La'an a Time" -- this week's over the top but fun Strange New Worlds -- before chat, during which we had the Red Sox win on in the background. Late summer-early fall at Washington Park Arboretum:

Don't look for excitement here because a lot of my day again involved laundry and chores, though I also had fun with my usual Wednesday online chat groups -- my high school friends, one of whom had an insane weekend with unplanned travel that made mine seem completely stress-free, then Kristen and Laurie, with whom I watched the first half of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. 

It was already after sunset when we took a walk, so we only saw one bunny, and we had a quick dinner, then I watched last week's Strange New Worlds with Cheryl (as usual Kirk 1, Evil Admirals 0, and it's nice having a second Kirk and Uhura being awesome). My Wednesday was all pre-travel chores interspersed with a couple of online chats -- two of my high school friends in the early afternoon, and Cel and Laurie in the late afternoon, with the latter of whom I finished watching Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (hamster wheel!). 

The only other things I watched were sports around visiting with our cat-sitter, hunting down my travel chargers, and sorting my clothes. The football season has officially started but the Seahawks already have too many injuries! Animals and apples in the rain at Tougas Farm:

My Tuesday morning was a bunch of chores I didn't do over the holiday weekend, followed by fresh bagels for lunch that Paul picked up, then some computer stuff before I talked to Chris for an hour and then Paul and I went for a walk (only four bunnies today but the frog was back). 

For Star Trek's 60th anniversary, my DS9 group watched "The Adversary" (the excellent end of the third season) which had the added benefit of making me miss most of the horrible Red Sox game. Carol told me to watch Younger, which is actually pretty fun. Adley Rutschman on the Red Sox for Kate:

I did a bunch of computer stuff on Thursday morning -- had to clear a lot of photos off my phone, catch up on some news, do a bit of research -- and I did some reading around lunch. Then in the afternoon I had my annual mammogram, which hopefully went okay; though I had double checked twice to make sure my records had been sent from the place in Redmond, they didn't have them, and they need them to interpret the new one, so hopefully they'll get there sooner rather than later but they won't tell me anything until they do. 

We took a long walk when we got home (it was a four bunny, two frog day), then met with a woman we're hoping will cat-sit when we travel in the future (Katniss and Effie appeared to approve). We watched this week's Strange New Worlds, which started goofy and fun but ended up a lovely critique of how "The Inner Light" ends. We talked to both our fathers and after dinner we watched the Red Sox-Orioles game, in which I'm not sorry Adley hit two home runs, around Thursday chat. My Wednesday was all the chores I neglected for the past several days around Zoom chats -- my high school friends after laundry and lunch, then Cel and Laurie later in the afternoon when we watched the first half of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest. My cats were very vocal after being left at home for several days with no one to supervise, so they were probably overfed. 

We saw some of the Red Sox and Orioles' bad days, then took a walk and ate leftover Indian food. Afterward we watched The Mandalorian and Grogu with Cheryl long-distance. My entire Thursday morning was taken up with an ophthalmologist appointment. Since I'm a new patient, there were lots of forms and questions and calling my former doctor in Redmond because the records hadn't all been faxed. But he said things looked fine, the iridotomies I had a year ago were working, and he'd see me in a year, so that was all good, and we stopped at Shaw's for food on the way home for a late lunch. 

Strange New Worlds' "Off-Hour" was excellent -- so many original series deep cuts and a great science-focused disaster story. My whole Thursday night group made it to chat, now that one is back from traveling and one is logged in from out of the US, and now we're watching an episode of My Brilliant Career after most of Thursday Night Football. I did a lot of chatting on Wednesday -- with one of my high school friends in the morning, watching the second half of Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl with Laurie and Cel in the afternoon, and with Daniel at 10 pm when he got home from work tonight. So I will be brief! 

Kay told me to watch My Brilliant Career on Netflix, and I remember that I liked the movie a million years ago when I saw it though I barely remember it, so we're doing that now that the Orioles have won (not the Red Sox, but given the week in celebrity tragedies, that's a small thing). 

I've spent much of the night fighting to send my records to my new ophthalmologist.
