Poem for Friday and Redmond Town Center

In the Department Store
By T.S. Eliot

The lady of the porcelain department
Smiles at the world through a set of false teeth.
She is business-like and keeps a pencil in her hair

But behind her sharpened eyes take flight
The summer evenings in the park
And heated nights in second story dance halls.

Man's life is powerless and brief and dark
It is not possible for me to make her happy.

--------

Friday started warm and sunny, then in the late afternoon a cold front came through and we had some serious rain before a big temperature drop. I did a bunch of chores in the morning -- we're seeing a bunch of relatives this weekend, things have to look semi-respectable -- then we walked to the beach and on the dock to see the animals as the drizzle was beginning.

We just watched Extraction 2, which is exactly as ridiculous and violent as I expected and Chris Hemsworth still looks good. Now we're watching FUBAR, which is just as ridiculous, just as guilty a pleasure, and plays to Arnold Schwarzenegger's strengths. Some pictures from Redmond Town Center yesterday, which is essentially a pretty outdoor mall:
