Poem for Monday and Nearby Bunnies

A Noiseless Patient Spider
By Walt Whitman

A noiseless patient spider,
I mark’d where on a little promontory it stood isolated,
Mark’d how to explore the vacant vast surrounding,
It launch’d forth filament, filament, filament, out of itself,
Ever unreeling them, ever tirelessly speeding them.

And you O my soul where you stand,
Surrounded, detached, in measureless oceans of space,
Ceaselessly musing, venturing, throwing, seeking the spheres to connect them,
Till the bridge you will need be form’d, till the ductile anchor hold,
Till the gossamer thread you fling catch somewhere, O my soul.

Paul had the day off on Monday for Juneteenth, though Amazon made all their employees -- corporate and warehouse, including our sons -- work despite it being a federal holiday. So we went to an early showing of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, which I thought was absolutely brilliant, even better than Into the Spider-Verse (more Gwen! 800 cameos!) and super-creative in its use of animation and its comic book roots. I'm excited for the third one!

Since we were in downtown Redmond, we also stopped at Home Depot (for parts to hang up a coat rack), Target (for various home supplies), and Blazing Bagels (for a dozen obvious necessities). The forecast rain still hadn't arrived when we got home, so we walked to the park, ate some of the bagels for dinner, and watched the rest of FUBAR, which is entertaining as long as you don't think about it too much. Here are some of the bunnies we've seen the past few days:
