Poem for Wednesday and Lake Washington Wildlife

Idyll
By Siegfried Sassoon

In the grey summer garden I shall find you
With day-break and the morning hills behind you.
There will be rain-wet roses; stir of wings;
And down the wood a thrush that wakes and sings.
Not from the past you'll come, but from that deep
Where beauty murmurs to the soul asleep:
And I shall know the sense of life re-born
From dreams into the mystery of morn
Where gloom and brightness meet. And standing there
Till that calm song is done, at last we'll share
The league-spread, quiring symphonies that are
Joy in the world, and peace, and dawn’s one star.

My Wednesday was fairly quiet, though I talked to Kay in the morning (our other two high school friends were unavailable) and watched the second half of Spider-Man: Homecoming with Kristen in the afternoon. Plus we walked to the beach, saw some herons and ducks, and wrote a lot of notes to our realtor since we got two offers to buy our house, one of which we have accepted pending various paperwork and bank approvals.

We had Trader Joe's vegan "meat" pizza for dinner, watched the start of the Mariners' unfortunate loss to the Marlins, and now we're watching the second season of Warrior Nun, which is pretty awesome -- all the major characters are women with interesting relationships and backstories, the Church is corrupt at all sorts of levels, and it seems like Jesus and the angels are extra-dimensional beings. Huzzah! Wildlife in Lake Washington and its bogs:
