A Small Needful Fact
By Ross Gay
Is that Eric Garner worked
for some time for the Parks and Rec.
Horticultural Department, which means,
perhaps, that with his very large hands,
perhaps, in all likelihood,
he put gently into the earth
some plants which, most likely,
some of them, in all likelihood,
continue to grow, continue
to do what such plants do, like house
and feed small and necessary creatures,
like being pleasant to touch and smell,
like converting sunlight
into food, like making it easier
for us to breathe.

Another quickie, I was sorting files and watching the end of National Treasure: Book of Secrets and lost track of time. We had a beautiful day here on Sunday, so after lunch we went to the C&O Canal, where we saw frogs, lots of different turtles, a great blue heron, wood ducks, and various other animals among the dragonflies.
My parents had discovered that Not Your Average Joe's delivered lobster rolls, so we went over in the late afternoon for a walk and a socially distanced outdoor dinner, plus some skyping with Daniel. This week's Snowpiercer was pretty good and Last Week Tonight was great. Plus I remembered to bring my camera to the canal this week:
