Poem for Thursday and <lj comm

Honeymoon
By Louis Simpson

Uncle Bob prayed over the groom:
"Let him establish Kingdom principles."
Aunt Shirley prayed for the bride:
"Father, I pray an anointing on her."
"Love," said Reverend Philips,

"is insensitive, love is invalueless."
He said that we merger together
in holy matrimony,
and the choir burst into song:
"He waits for us, and waits for us."

*

Every day they went swimming in the pool
and rode the two water scooters.
They rented two deck chairs
and sat on the sand in the sun.
A breeze made the palm leaves whisper.

The sea is green close to shore,
further out it is blue.
The ship standing still on the horizon
makes you think of sailing away
forever with the one you love.

*

Jennifer ordered the roast beef platter.
Mike had the fish cakes.
"I thought you didn't like fish,"
she said. "Well," he said, "I guess you were wrong."
Tears came to her eyes. The honeymoon was over.

But then they went to their room
and everything was OK.
In the evening they went dancing
and stayed up late on the veranda
looking at the lights and the moon.

*

And you, hypocrite lecteur,
what makes you so superior?

: "Complex", for the therapy challenge. (It's a DRABBLE. It doesn't count as fanfic. It took me nearly as long just to read the challenge as it did to come up with the idea and write it.)

Here's my review of Enterprise's "Twilight". It's pretty damn humiliatingly schmoopy. And, um, there's a big unholy reference to J/C. I am quite embarrassed and should be ashamed of myself but in fact I really want to watch the episode again. Which should be even MORE embarrassing and shameful yet somehow makes me happy instead.

Meanwhile it sounds like there is noooo rush to see The Matrix: Revolutions. Somehow this does not come as a big shock. Though I have never been emotionally invested in this series, I was just intrigued by its bizarre melding of genre convention and theology. So perhaps, if I can handle the big battle scenes, I will like it better than people who are really interested in the characters as such.

ROTK books: There are flashback photos of That Character in ALL THREE OF THEM! Ohh please let this mean that he appears in the film. Even for a nanosecond. It would make me so very happy!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ! Hope it's wonderful!

And love to just because. Turn your comments back on so I can gush about your drabble.

Gacked from , rather bizarre, but I am not kinky Lucius nor really evil Lucius and I am sure as hell not whichever Lucius is drooling over Harry or Draco:

You are Outdoor Lucius! You like going outside and
playing Quidditch! I bet your loyal, evil cane
keeps you company. LOL!
Which Lucius Malfoy Are You?
brought to you by Quizilla

Off to see . And tomorrow . Wow, three lunches out in one week! So much for losing those 45 pounds I put on in two days over Halloween.
