Cheryl brought her mother, a big fan of antiques and artistic decor, to Hillwood on Saturday to see the museum and estate, so we went too to see the house with its summer decorations and the garden in all its greenery. There's also a terrific exhibit on Alfred Eisenstaedt's photography in the Adirondack House, centered around his photographs of and for Marjorie Merriweather Post but containing others she collected and some of his most famous photos for Life Magazine.
We went to the new Mod Pizza for an early dinner -- we'd eaten at the one in Seattle and I'm so excited to have one nearby since there's no longer a Blaze Pizza close to us. Then Cheryl and her mom headed back to Virginia and Paul and I watched the first three episodes of Carnival Row, which I thought at first might be too violent for my tastes but it's very atmospheric, well-acted and visually stunning, so now I want to know where the rest of this season is headed!
