I had a very nice last day of 2019, mostly in Frederick County. We went to Beans in the Belfry for coffee/hot chocolate and lunch, then we went to Catoctin Creek Park, which has a nature center where we were lucky enough to arrive just as they started feeding the reptiles, so we got to hold a snake and pet a turtle! Then we walked down to the creek, skipped stones, and admired the barn ruins before we drove to South Mountain Creamery for eggnog, cheese, and visits with the cows.
We drove home beneath a spectacular final sunset of the year, had dinner, and played The Castles of Mad King Ludwig, which was a lot of fun though it ended up taking pretty much the entire evening -- I lost, though I had the castle I'd most want to live in, with art and sewing rooms and two gardens and a billiards parlor! Then we watched a bit of New Year's Rockin' Eve, which thankfully had no Jenny McCarthy this time. Wishing everyone a very happy near year and best wishes for 2020!
