I woke up on the morning of our first week of beach vacation with a very sore throat and a double line on a covid test. So guess what, I'm not at the beach. Paul found out that we could cancel our reservation with PCR proof of covid, so he went to get Daniel and Cahaya, who got a hotel room in much-closer Fenwick Island instead of the Outer Banks, and they took the car to go enjoy the shore. The rest of us went to get PCR tests (ridiculously located inside the mall past several restaurants) and spent the rest of the afternoon building my Thor: Love and Thunder LEGO goat boat.
I have an unpleasant sore throat, a runny nose, and a tiny bit of fever between doses of acetaminophen, though I am very aware of how lucky I am to have had two booster shots (my doctor's office advised against Paxlovid, which interferes with a long list of other medicines including my blood pressure drugs). We had bagels for dinner courtesy my parents who delivered them, and now we're watching Mystery Men after taking a really long time to figure out what we were in the mood for. Here is Daniel on the other side of the glass door, my covid tests, and Loki sneaking onto the goat boat with Thor:
