We're home from Salem and snuggling our cats after a nice day with family and friends, despite some temperamental weather. It was pouring when we woke up, but had stopped by the time we got to Brooke and Jon's house for brunch -- he had made egg-and-vegan-sausage casserole and Cinda's blueberry coffee cake -- and we took the dogs for a walk to the state capitol building with the nephew who couldn't come the night before, along with his girlfriend.
When we got back to the house, the rain returned and the young people all headed home. The cat could finally come downstairs without threat from three huskies, and we hung out for the afternoon chatting. Brooke had to work on Sunday evening, so we headed to Portland, where we met Kris and Josh at their house, saw a small portion of their garden and their enormous library (and their cat), and went to Pizzeria Otto for dinner, which was excellent.
