Feliz día de los Muertos to everyone celebrating! We had a lower-key Halloween than we originally planned, in large part because of the weather, which was drizzly early in the day but turned into hard rain just before our neighborhood party was supposed to start. I spent all morning doing the massive amount of laundry and other chores I ignored all weekend, and in the afternoon we carved the pumpkin, roasted the seeds, set up the candles on the porch, and put candy in the plastic cauldron.
By 5 p.m. the organizers decided that it was too dangerous to set up the musical equipment, so they canceled the party -- even the parade, though most of the kids in the neighborhood were out trick-or-treating in costume despite the weather. We got to see most of the kids on our cul-de-sac before we closed up just as Monday Night Football was starting. Being deprived of Syndergaard pitching, I spent the evening sorting photos from the weekend. Here are a few from our Halloween afternoon:
