Greetings from Green Spring Gardens

Saturday was cooler but sunny and it still feels like early spring instead of late winter, so after a morning of chores, we went to Green Spring Gardens. We thought we'd see snowdrops, aconite, and crocuses, which we did, but we also saw tree size witch hazel and apricot blossoms, bunches of blooming daffodils, plus all the flowers in the conservatory and ducks and blue jays doing courtship dances. So it was gorgeous.

We had to stop at a food store on the way home to fix a Super Bowl dessert disaster, but eventually we had dinner and watched Baz Luhrmann's Elvis, which is very well directed and acted and does a great job with the music -- of course it's a sad story, and kind of a strange choice to have Parker be the protagonist when he's also in many ways the villain. It keeps Elvis himself more of an enigma instead of the focus of the movie with his name.
