Busy day two hours from home in and around Emunclaw, which we drove through en route to Crystal Mountain with a stop on the way at Skookum Falls. We then took the gondola to the top of the mountain and had a picnic in view of Mount Rainier (where younger son and his girlfriend were hiking), Mount St. Helens, Mount Adams, and Mount Baker under spectacular blue skies, with ground squirrels and chipmunks running around and butterflies in the air.
From there, we drove back to Enumclaw, where the King County Fair was taking place. We ate cheese pretzels and strawberry lemonade and saw animal races, pirates, 4H animal displays, bunny judging, motorcycle jumping, and lots of typical county fair shopping! We also had long distance family news but more on that tomorrow!
