Spare a little candle, save some light for me
Figures up ahead moving in the trees
White skin in linen, perfume on my wrist
And the full moon that hangs over these dreams in the mist
Darkness on the edge, shadows where I stand
I search for the time on a watch with no hands
I want to see you clearly, come closer than this
But all I remember are the dreams in the mist
These dreams go on when I close my eyes
Every second of the night, I live another life
These dreams that sleep when it's cold outside
Every moment I'm awake, the further I'm away
Is it cloak-and-dagger? Could it be spring or fall?
I walk without a cut through a stained-glass wall
Weaker in my eyesight, the candle in my grip
And words that have no form are falling from my lips
These dreams go on when I close my eyes
Every second of the night, I live another life
These dreams that sleep when it's cold outside
Every moment I'm awake, the further I'm away
There's something out there I can't resist
I need to hide away from the pain
There's something out there, I can't resist
The sweetest song is silence that I've ever heard
Funny how your feet in dreams never touch the earth
In a wood full of princes, freedom is a kiss
But the prince hides his face from dreams in the mist
These dreams go on when I close my eyes
Every single second of the night, I live another life
These dreams that sleep when it's cold outside
Every moment I'm awake, the further I'm away...

Happy New Year! I was up later on New Year's Eve than I have been for many years, so I have a lot to catch up on. We drove into the city after lunch on the 31st, parked right next to Daniel's old building, and walked through Seattle Center to the Chihuly Garden and Glass museum, where we spent a couple of hours visiting the galleries and gardens, seeing the new Winter Brilliance glass and light display, and watching glassblowers exhibit their skills, producing the final vase made at the demonstration stage for 2023. Then we circled back to Mantra Thai for dinner.
Because we had time, we walked to Denny Park to see their winter light display, Snow Day, then to the Armory, which is now in the New Year phase of Winterfest; the Christmas tree was gone, but the trains and snowflakes were still there, plus live music. We walked around the International Fountain before going to Climate Pledge Arena to see Heart, with Jason Bonham's Led Zeppelin Experience opening. I've always wanted to see Ann and Nancy together and it was awesome to approach the New Year singing "Magic Man", "Straight On" mashed up with "Let's Dance", and "Crazy on You"!
The concert ended just after midnight with "Auld Land Syne" after which we headed outside along with many thousands of other people to see the fireworks at the Space Needle (lit in magenta by sponsor T-Mobile). It took us till nearly 2 a.m. to get out of the downtown traffic gridlock, so we slept late on New Year's Day, missed the Tournament of Roses Parade, and watched Wisconsin lose to LSU. We took a short walk in the afternoon and saw the eagles, watched Michigan win the Rose Bowl, then Daniel came to get Mod Pizza with us and we just watched UW win the Sugar Bowl.
