By Emily Dickinson
A little Dog that wags his tail
And knows no other joy
Of such a little Dog am I
Reminded by a Boy
Who gambols all the living Day
Without an earthly cause
Because he is a little Boy
I honestly suppose -
The Cat that in the Corner dwells
Her martial Day forgot
The Mouse but a Tradition now
Of her desireless Lot
Another class remind me
Who neither please nor play
But not to make a 'bit of noise'
Beseech each little Boy -

Adam was clearing out his old house on Monday, so while he was going back and forth to Goodwill and waiting for the junk collectors to take what was left, we got to dog-sit Pepper. She was initially not happy to be here without Adam, but we bribed her with some cream cheese at lunchtime, and she and the cats kept a respectful distance so there was no fighting. We took a walk in the afternoon to the park and Pepper seemed quite enthusiastic, though she was also eager to get back once she realized Adam would not be joining us there.
Adam arrived not long after we all got dried off from the rain, and we watched the CFP national championship pregame show, then the game, while eating chips and hummus and cheese crackers and popcorn veggie chicken and pumpkin pie. Some of Nicole's family was in Houston and some were watching from elsewhere but we were all texting (they are Michigan fans, so they had a good night, heh). Adam and Pepper left after the game, which we enjoyed despite Washington losing, and now we're watching an episode of The Morning Show. My day:
