Useless! Useless!
— heavy rain driving
into the sea
--------
I don't have a lot to report from my Monday, which was rainy all morning but cleared up in the afternoon just in time for us to take a walk and enjoy the lighter sky. I did laundry, cleaned the bathroom, fixed some earrings, and watched clips of Norman Jewison movies -- of course his passing is sad, but getting to age 97 after having given us so many great movies (Fiddler on the Roof, Jesus Christ Superstar) is about the best anyone can hope for. We had peanut soup for dinner with the Swedish farmer's cheese we got at the Scandinavian store yesterday.
Then we watched Saltburn, about which I'd read wildly differing reviews so I was curious. It wasn't as creative as some people told me it was -- it felt like Brideshead Revisited had a baby with Another Country with sex scenes from Call Me By Your Name and cameos by Hogwarts, but then it turned into a darker version of The Talented Mr. Ripley. I never know how to feel when a queer-coded character turns out to be a psychopath a la Apartment Zero, and the rich suck but the poor are pathetic. At least it's visually interesting and never boring! Wolves at Wolf Haven International:
