Greetings from Tacoma

Quickie after spending almost the whole day in Tacoma, where there was gorgeous weather and lots going on, including two fairs -- In the Spirit, a Native American arts market and festival, and Glass Fest Northwest, a festival of local artisans and live glassmaking -- and three museums open for free for the day, including the Washington State Historical Society, Museum of Glass, and Tacoma Art Museum.

We visited all of these -- heard music at In the Spirit, went through all the galleries of the historical society tracing the geologic prehistory through the modern era of Seattle, lunch and wandering through the stalls of the glass fest, a visit to the Chihuly exhibit and more at MOG, and the local artists (including more Chihuly) at the art museum, reached by crossing the Chihuly Bridge of Glass.

The rest of my day involved an hour of the group rhythmic gymnastics final, in which I already knew Israel had won a medal so I wanted to see the performances, and we watched parts of the Orioles and Mariners games around dinner and chores. Now we're watching Sleeping Dogs, which is better than its reviews, especially Russell Crowe, but the ending isn't coming together in terms of the memory issues.
