Poem for Wednesday and African Zoo Animals

The Hippopotamus
By Ogden Nash

Behold the hippopotamus!
We laugh at how he looks to us,
And yet in moments dank and grim,
I wonder how we look to him.
Peace, peace, thou hippopotamus!
We really look all right to us,
As you no doubt delight the eye
Of other hippopotami.

--------

My Wednesday started as most Wednesdays do chatting with my high school friends (minus one who was traveling with her son who's on spring break this week), which is always a delight. Then I had lunch and did a bunch of chores, followed by a walk to the park -- our streak of magnificent weather ended on Wednesday, but that was all right since we'd seen the cherry blossoms the day before.

We watched the second half of the Orioles spring training victory, then we had dinner and caught up on Animal Control, which we hadn't realized was back on the air, before The Masked Singer (Billy Joel night, go Clock!) and Vice's Icons shows about the histories of Batman and The Lord of the Rings franchises. Here are some photos from the zoo last weekend of the African animal habitats:
