Poem for Wednesday, Cemetery and Labyrinth

Daedal
By A.E. Stallings

To build a labyrinth it takes
A twisted mind, a puzzled art,
A fractal branching of mistakes.

Drag out the shovels and the rakes,
The spirit level, sacred chart
To build a labyrinth it takes

Shadows, stones, a way that snakes
And ladders to its shaky start;
An average mazing of mistakes,

The kind that everybody makes,
Set random intervals apart.
To build a labyrinth it takes

Dead ends that seem like lucky breaks,
The paths of bats that weave and dart
Through limestone caverns of mistakes.

The shaken Etch A Sketch awakes
A lost child buried in its heart.
To build a labyrinth it takes
Some good intentions, some mistakes.

--------

I spent lots of Wednesday online with friends -- chatting with my high school friends for more than two hours in the morning, then eating a bagel, then watching the second half of Spider-Man: No Way Home with Kristen. So that was lots of fun, and then we walked to Idylwood and saw lots of coots and the eagles in cool but sunny weather, which was also lovely.

Paul was in the mood for bangers and mash for dinner, so we had that with veggie sausage, then we started watching Resident Alien because Kay recommended it and it sounded like it was funny. I'm really not much of a fan of the main character, but I like the way the women are written. Lake View Cemetery and Saint Mark's Episcopal Cathedral on Saturday:
