Poem for Tuesday and Yard Decorations

Tender Buttons: A Long Dress
By Gertrude Stein

What is the current that makes machinery, that makes it crackle, what is the current that presents a long line and a necessary waist. What is this current.

What is the wind, what is it.

Where is the serene length, it is there and a dark place is not a dark place, only a white and red are black, only a yellow and green are blue, a pink is scarlet, a bow is every color. A line distinguishes it. A line just distinguishes it.

We had gorgeous weather on Monday that I got to enjoy early and late in between a bunch of meetings -- one fun one with my high school friends online, which we moved to Monday this week because one of us has to work through lunch Wednesday, and one with a bathroom contractor, the third we've interviewed, about repairing our master tub and leaking pipes. In and around this, I hung up the bird house and feeders my neighbor gave me, which I am enjoying a lot, though now I have to tackle the overgrown plants!

We spotted our first fully emerged Brood X cicadas today, which was very exciting! There are lots of larva casings but the winged bugs are mostly hiding in the treetops. We watched the very entertaining Antiques Roadshow with Christian Siriano's store/museum, then Sunday's Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist with UGH PLEASE NOT MAX AGAIN, and finally tonight's Debris, which was intense and for a minute I thought they were going to do something really awful but it wound up being fitting for the show, if suspenseful.
