Poem for Friday and Warm Day on the Canal

The Truth About Turtles
By Shel Silverstein

Turtles really have long legs,
But they don't stretch 'em out
Until it's very late at night,
And then they run about,
Racin' over hill and field,
Until mornin' comes—and then
They curl 'em back inside their shells
And crawl around again.

It was 65 degrees on Thursday afternoon, so after an unremarkable morning apart from happy local animals enjoying the weather and soup and bread for lunch, we went to take a walk along the canal, where we were very pleased to find that there were turtles hanging out on the fallen logs as well as ducks and geese in the river and squirrels running around everywhere:

We caught up on Around the World in 80 Days, in which a lot of America is an embarrassment, and we watched the entertaining season finale of Peacemaker, in which rumors of awesome cameos turned out to be delightfully true, in between chatting with my usual Thursday night fangirl group. Now I'm watching the terrible, amusing rom-com The Royal Treatment
